Crying in the Club Rn…

Outfit formulas that are guaranteed to cause some innocent flirtation at the club.

The epic playground for party girls, otherwise known as, the club, has become the newest runway to show off your favorite nightwear ‘fits. Don’t panic, your fashion fairy godmother’s got you covered!

My advice? When the clock strikes “club-ready,” ditch the 9-5 blazer and subscribe to a new going-out uniform. Think shimmery: think of bold colors. And, if that’s not enough, pretend that you're the newest cast member on the set of Euphoria. Get the picture?

Good! Let’s talk specifics:

Body con dresses—you may have noticed— are on a timeout; and rightfully so! No one is going to bat an eyelid. We’ve been there, and seen that! #2014.

So if you're hoping to sweeten the night with innocent flirtations, compliments from every direction, and unexpected connections, lock in these outfit formulas sooner rather than later.

Even the tone-deaf fashionista can tell you that cutout culture has taken first prize for shimmying down and drinking at the club. The reason everyone is flirting with daring cutouts: you can make a statement from every single angle. Scandalous? Perhaps. Jaw-dropping? No doubt about it.

More of a pants person? Opt for statement pants and pair them with a statement top or jacket. Steer clear from the denim jeans and a statement top combo. The new clubbing motto? Statement everything: top, bottoms, shoes, and bling!

The balance between prioritizing your feet and channeling the outfit can be tricky. Sound familiar? The most comfortable, versatile and cute is none other than the platform loafer.

If you are ready to adopt a new signature accessory, you better put on your evening gloves-- it's the fall 2022 sidekick. Bridgerton might have not invented the evening glove trend, but it is certainly responsible for putting it back on the map outside of the world of red-carpet couture. This trend has extended past the arms of modern-day royalty, Dua Lipa and Zendaya, and now onto the arms of the average clubber.

Studio 54, the playground for iconic figures like Diana Ross, Bianca Jagger, and David Bowie during the late 1970s and early 1980s in New York, holds the most glamorous-club outfit inspiration.

So what Studio 54 outfit archives should get a fresh season of life? The most iconic Studio 54 outfit to recreate is none other than Olivia Newton John 1978 Grease Premier look. Remember your Barbie doll and her 80s metallic red windbreaker? Well, Olivia brings doll-fashion to a whole new level. Newton paired the classic Barbie metallic red loose-fitted windbreaker with a hot pink silk collared shirt and metallic indigo leggings. Talk about a color-clashing fit! Though, at first glance, nothing about these items appear to work together, the common theme of metallics tied this outfit together and led to its revolutionary outfit status.

And obviously, one can’t talk about Newton’s Studio 54 look without mentioning her voluminous blond curly hair. Trust me, big hair was having a moment in the 70s, again in the 90s and now it returns to put hair gel companies out of business (at least momentarily).

Need more inspiration? Bianca’s Jagger”s Studio 54’ dresses! Think eccentric plunging necklines, high slits, and spaghetti straps that won’t adhere to your high school dress code. Jagger's red dress-beret combo will live in your head rent-free!

I could go on and on about all the iconic looks that Studio 54 witnessed but if I did, we would be chatting till death do us part. Instead, I’ll leave you a quick summary of Studio 54’s fits: Revolutionary during this movement are loud colors, velvet jumpsuits, fur-trim anything and everything, and the sound of sequins.

Now that I’ve given you the Fashion 411, let’s get back to the task at hand: getting you ready to wow the crowd.

In need of some show-stopping fix-me-up additions? Hair tinsel, body glitter, or sparkly nails are your go-to plus ones!

Think you're ready to head out to the club? Hold up. No clubbing look is complete without your confidence and desire to make this night one for the books.

Forget the bad breakup, bad grade, rocky friendship or whatever might be trying to bring your night down. Instead, channel your main-character-energy on the dancefloor and let the music lift you up. The music can save you, if you let it! My advice?

If you feel like crying in the club, picture yourself in your happy place: go there, stay there, and wave your hands on the dance floor like you just don’t care.

You have a long night ahead of you (sigh of relief: your outfit won’t turn to rags when the clock strikes 12) with unexpected friendships and memories waiting to take you by surprise but one thing is for certain: no one can take the superlative of best dressed from you.
